«I Giacometti» by Susanna Fanzun
After its world premiere at the Solothurn Film Festival, the documentary is now opening the "Panorama Suisse" section in Locarno. Engadine director Susanna Fanzun sets out on the trail of the Giacometti family. Masterful paintings paired with sketches, personal letters, contemporary witnesses and breathtaking shots of the alpine landscape, allow us to look into the heart of this impressive family.
The rugged, mysterious Swiss mountain valley of Bergell has produced an extraordinary dynasty of artists. From the father Giovanni, to the children, they were all endowed with remarkable artistic talent. First and foremost, the world-famous sculptor, painter and engraver Alberto Giacometti, who revolutionized the art world with his thin sculptures.
The film will be shown on Thursday, 03.08.2023, at 11:00, at the FEVI.
Tickets and more info are available on the festival's website.

A patchwork of short situations and true stories from the life of cows.
We start with the idyllic image of a pasture where cows are enjoying free movement and fresh air after the long winter in the barn.
The joy is disturbed by a helicopter flying over the meadow. As a messenger of the human world, it brings a certain tension and possible danger to the story.

The filming of Samir's new documentary project has started. Together with Levin Vieth, he is following the stories of various people who all have something to say about this phenomenon of the "miraculous transformation of the working class into foreigners". The interviews are rolling, so are the cameras and we can be excited to see what Samir will uncover in this documentary.
Here is a short description:
«The SP and the trade unions shaped the Swiss working-class culture for over 100 years, but in the early 1970s many of these institutions collapsed in just a decade. Today, no one speaks of the working class anymore. And the term "worker" has become synonymous with "foreigner." How did this come about?»
