Erica Jong fights for equal rights for women - today as 40 years ago! The exciting life of a self-confident, independent woman who never let herself be silenced, summarized in a film by Kaspar Kasics.

Four of the ten short films were produced by Sophia Rubischung, with the directors: Maria Kaur Bedi, Wendy Pillonel, Jonas Schaffter and Sean Wirz, for Dschoint Ventschr. The entire project was created in collaboration with the production companies AKKA Films and Cinédokké. The young filmmakers present people with the most diverse backgrounds and their environments and lifestyles.

«Catzilla» by Maria Kaur Bedi:
Catzilla takes us through the colourful roller derby community and tells us how the sport helped her block away even private and social obstacles.

«Un monde parfait» by Wendy Pillonel:
Giulia is the smallest in her class and is teased every day by her classmates. Most of the time she ignores the attacks, but sometimes it is too difficult to control her anger. Luckily, there are friends who stick with you.

«Flurin» by Jonas Schaffter:
Flurin's life in the idyllic countryside and breaking out into the world - a farm boy on a journey to himself.

«Borderless» by Sean Wirz:
Moha, a 19-year-old Afghan, fled to Switzerland with her family five years ago. Here she has a chance at a good life and is allowed to pursue her passion, dancing. She is unsuccessfully looking for an apprenticeship. Again and again she is told that her German is not good enough. But Moha does not give up.

«DIDA» by Corina Schwingruber Ilić & Nikola Ilić will be released in Swiss cinemas on March 20th. The premieres will take place in the presence of the directors.

About the film:

In his «Swiss Autumn Chronicle 1989», Alexander J. Seiler records the political debate about the Swiss army triggered by the «Group for a Switzerland without an Army» and its popular initiative: from the official commemorations «Diamant» and the unofficial counter-events «Klunker» to public debates throughout the country and the referendum. The film also follows the play «Jonas und sein Veteran» by Max Frisch, directed by Benno Besson, from the first rehearsals to the premieres at the Schauspielhaus Zurich and the Theatre Vidy Lausanne and the reactions of the audience and political celebrities. 

The result is an exciting dual chronicle of a democratic and an artistic process: politics as theatre and theatre as politics. Above all, however, the result is an impressive picture of Swiss democracy and two opposing «Switzerlands»: the other way of thinking, the other way of cohesion, the Switzerland of tomorrow that many hoped for become tangible and visible.
