ULRICH SEIDL - A DIRECTOR AT WORK
by Constantin Wulff
VOD
The documentary film ULRICH SEIDL AND THE BAD BOYS (working title) portrays the internationally renowned Austrian director Ulrich Seidl and his work for the very first time.
It will circle around two new projects by Ulrich Seidl: the documentary IM KELLER (IN THE CELLAR) and the theatre play BÖSE BUBEN (BAD BOYS). Both projects are inseperably linked to each other and offer a unique opportunity to witness Seidls work both as a film maker as well as a theatre director.
In both projects Seidl confronts us (provocatively, as we have been experiencing it watching his previous work) with his understanding of a male perspective on the world. Therefore he has been assembling central protagonists from previous feature films and documentary films (such as René Rupnik, Georg Friedrich, Nabil Saleh and Michael Thomas) who lead us, together with Seidl himself, through this film. By showing numerous scenes shot on location and on the rehearsal stage as well as footage from his own work, we will provide an insight into the idiosyncratic cosmos of Ulrich Seidl. Furthermore we will focus on the interplay between fiction and reality, which Ulrich Seidl is so well known for.
